Résumé de l'éditeur

IN the realm of fairy tales the events usually take place "a long time ago" in the imagined land of nowhere. This book, however, records a real-life fairy story which does not conform to the traditional rule. It started in 1934 when Walt Disney, inspired by the Grimms' story, began the preliminary sketches on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs which formed the basis of his first full-length cartoon film.

We now present the original Sketch Book containing Walt Disney's own studies still untouched by the various technical processes of cartoon film making

The simple language of sketches in this book makes it as interesting to read as the fairy tale itself.

WORK on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs started three years before the film was completed. A special camera was developed and more than $230,000 spent on experimental work, which entailed more than 2,500,000 drawings. 250,000 of these were selected for the finished film, which lasts 84 minutes on the screen - the first cartoon film of full "feature" length. The total production cost exceeded $1,400,000.

"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" has been acclaimed by the press of the world as the most outstanding event in the history of motion pictures.

This edition is a reproduction of the original Sketchbook of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs published in England by William Collins in 1938. With the exception of the price, the publisher's imprint, and a few minor type changes to prepare this edition for the American public, the jacket and text are reproduced directly from an original book.
